Product Attributes

Attributes are any extra selections a customer can make to a product to make and can make the product more or less expense e.g. choose a colour, gift wrapping, etc.

To do any of the following see below:

Create a Product attribute

1. Go to the Shop admin
2. Click"- Show links -" under the heading Products
3. Click "Manage attributes"
4. This is a list of ALL of the attributes in the shop
   • Click edit to edit your attribute (see below for more)
   • Click delete to delete the attribute
   • Click options to add options to the attribute e.g. Add Blue to Colour (see below for more)
5. Click "Add an Attribute" at the top
6. Fill in the form
   1. Type the name of the attribute e.g. Colour
   2. Type in the Help text e.g. "Select a colour for the product"
   3. If the customer MUST choose an option tick this box e.g. You MUST know the colour they are ordering
   4. Choose a display type from the list
      
      • Select box - Pull down list
      • Text field - The customer can type something here e.g. a message to you
      • Radio buttons - A selection of buttons for the customer to choose one of
   5. Choose the order of the attribute, if any order number is the same alphabetical order will take precedence e.g. Colour has an order of 0 and Gift wrap has an order of 0 then Colour will be above Gift wrap in a list. Recommended to leave this as 0. Lower the number higher the Attribute will 'float' up lists.

   Click the Submit button at the bottom to save your attribute

Edit Product Attributes

1. Go to the Shop admin
2. Click"- Show links -" under the heading Products
3. Click "Manage attributes"
4. Click "edit" next to the attribute to edit
5. Fill in the form (see above for more)
6. Click the Submit button at the bottom to save your attribute

Delete Product Attributes

1. Go to the Shop admin
2. Click"- Show links -" under the heading Products
3. Click "Manage attributes"
4. Click "delete" next to the attribute to delete
5. Click delete if you are sure

N.B. This cannot be undone, once the attribute is gone it's gone for good.

Add Options to the Product Attribute

e.g. Add Blue to Colour (see below for more) or yes and no to Gift wrap

1. Go to the Shop admin
2. Click"- Show links -" under the heading Products
3. Click "Manage attributes"
4. Click "options" next to the attribute to add options to
5. This is a list of ALL of the options for the attribute
   • Click edit next to an option to edit your it
   • Click delete to next to an option to delete the option (click Delete again if you are sure)
     N.B. This cannot be undone, once the option is gone it's gone for good.
6. Click "Add an option"
7. Fill in the form
   1. Type in the name of the option e.g.Red
   2. Choose the order of the option, if any order number is the same as another option alphabetical order will take precedence e.g. Red has an order of 0 and Blue has an order of 0 then Blue will be above Red in a list. Recommended to leave this as 0. Lower the number higher the option will 'float' up lists.
   3. Add the amount to add to the cost of the product if this option is chosen e.g. If a product is £23 and an option has "-2" in the cost then if the option is chosen the product will cost £21 as 23 + -2 is 23.
      NB Only the admin for the shop will see this
   4. Add the amount to add to the price of the product if this option is chosen e.g. If a product is £52 and an option has "4" in the price then if the option is chosen the product will cost £52 as 23 + -4 is 56.
      NB This is the price the customer will see
   5. This is the weight that will be added to the weight of the product if this option is chosen. It is used for working out delivery cost by weight
8. Click the Submit button to save the option

Add Product Attributes to Products

1. Go to the product you wish to add Attributes
2. Click "Edit" at the top
3. Select "Attributes" from the top
4. Click "add attributes to this product"
5. Click the attribute you want to add for the list (Hold the Ctrl key while selecting to select more than one attribute) e.g. Colour
6. Click the Add attributes button

Edit Product Attributes Within Products

1. Go to the product you wish to add Attributes
2. Click "Edit" at the top
3. Select "Attributes" from the top
4. Change any of the optoions on this form
5. Click the Save changes button

Edit Product Attribute Options

1. Go to the product you wish to add Attributes
2. Click "Edit" at the top
3. Select "Options" from the top
4. Change the form
   1. Under Options, use the tick boxes to switch options on and off
   2. Under Default, select the radio button to make on of the options chosen automaticly when a customer doesn't choose anything else
   3. Under Cost, change the price (plus or minnus e.g. "2" or "-2") of a product up or down when a option is selected (this is how much the shop payed for the product)
   4. Under Price, change the price (plus or minnus e.g. "6" or "-6") of a product up or down when a option is selected (this is how much the customer will pay for the product)
   5. Under Weight, change the weight (plus or minnus e.g. "5" or "-5") of a product up or down when a option is selected (this is for working out postage using weight)
   6. Under Order, choose the order of the option, if any order number is the same as another option alphabetical order will take precedence e.g. Red has an order of 0 and Blue has an order of 0 then Blue will be above Red in a list. Recommended to leave this as 0. Lower the number higher the option will 'float' up lists.
5. Click the Submit button to save the results
